Reference:Lancet 1988;(August 13th):365-8
Place of Study:Denver, USA
Abstract:201 children diagnosed before the age of fifteen were compared with 181 controls. There is an increased risk of cancer in children breastfed less than 6 months or not breastfed at all. The increased risk is largely due to the increased incidence of lymphoma.
Keyword(s):bottle feeding, breastfeeding, cancer in childhood, lymphoma
Discussion:These data differ from those of McKinney who found no association between infant feeding and childhood leukaemia or lymphoma. See McKinney P.A., et al, The inter-regional epidemiological childhood cancer; a case control study. Arch Dis child, 1987;62:279-87. See entry 0029.
